What is Industrial safety, after all?
“Industrial safety refers to the management of all operations and events within an industry in order to protect its employees and assets by minimizing hazards, risks, accidents, and near misses.” (Source: Safeopedia)
Who is responsible?
It’s the responsibility of the management and the workers themselves to ensure they use tools that are safe to use. Although, Beryllium is proved to be hazardous to use in any industry as it directly relates to health issues, severe skin problems, breathing problem and can even cause lung cancer in the long run.
OSHA (The Occupational Safety and Health Association), the primary regulatory body for industrial safety in the US has stated a rule on Beryllium exposure.
What’s the alternative?
Beryllium needs an alternative. Safety is the first priority at all the industries after all. Copper Titanium is one such alloy that has far better properties in terms of applications in the industries and has no side effects on the health of their users.
Copper Titanium, perhaps, offers better longevity of tools. It offers better strength. All it needs is a better awareness.
Reminder- Safety tools are for safety of their users!
